Ben Rothlisberger will practice Wednesday and is expected to start in Week Fourteen, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Roethlisberger’s soreness has diminished and he’ll attempt to demonstrate he can make all the throws, which he was unable to do last week, according to ESPN. Byron Leftwich won’t be an option to start, according to HC Mike Tomlin.
Beanie Wells appears to be running at less than 100 percent, according to HC Ken Whisenhunt. Whisenhunt said, "I don't know if it was a setback, but you're always going to have some reactions when you come back to playing. We said a couple weeks ago we're not under any illusion that he's going to come back in and be perfect, and I think that's normal."
Donald Brown (ankle) left Sunday’s game against the Lions with an ankle injury, according to the Indianapolis Star.
DeMarco Murray (foot) came out of Week Thirteen without any setbacks, according to HC Jason Garrett said, "I really thought he handled the rigors of that game well.”
Lesean McCoy (concussion) was inactive for Week Thirteen, but has progressed to Phase 3 of his recovery, according to HC Andy Reid.
MJD (foot) was once again inactive in Week Thirteen and HC Mike Mularkey said Jones-Drew is “very questionable” to play in Week Fourteen.
James Starks (knee) may have a season-ending knee injury, according to ESPN.

After several weeks of mixing up the content, getting back to a somewhat standard IF ONLY article. Purpose of starting this was not to just rue choices, but to examine the why’s in making the decision and to provide some analysis on both players being discussed. But, since last weekend was one of giving thanks, this weekend was one of some regret, so in similar manner, here we go…
IF ONLY I had gone to the Pic on Sunday night. Gathering of the Kick Ass crew, Bonfire, Wings, Football. Sounded like a really great time. I did want to go, was looking forward to it. But, as Sunday unfolded, just didn’t get the chance. Kid birthday party, some stuff on the home front, got late. A two plus hour drive there, and a two plus hour drive back after drinking, guess it just wasn’t in the cards. Until next time. On the positive side, got to watch the Eagles game with my two oldest. They enjoy watching the games, and I enjoy watching with them. I like that, so if that’s the outcome of missing the bonfire…
IF ONLY last week’s players and this week’s players could switch. Ahh, every fantasy footballer’s wish. Why couldn’t he play like this week, or vice versa of course. Tied in the Kick Ass League, as Arian Foster exceeded projections with 33 points. This week, 15. SF D last week with 2 TD’s and 33 pts. This week, not so much. My local league got 7 friggin points out of Carson Palmer last week. I lost by six. This week’s two TD’s and 351 yds passing would have done me some justice. Forced to use LaRod Stephens Howling as a second RB in my KC Joyner ESPN league due to Andre Brown’s injury. And no, Wilson wasn’t available. Those 12 points, golden. Everybody plays this game. Don’t. Things happen, and fantasy football is unpredictable, so just have fun with it.

Poor Alex Smith; the 49ers veteran quarterback sustained a concussion in Week 10 against the Rams and was replaced by second-year quarterback Colin Kaepernick. It’s not even as if Smith did anything to lose his job except suffer the concussion. Before going down, Smith completed 25 of the last 27 passes he attempted (92.5%). But unfortunately for Smith, that’s life in the NFL.
Honestly, this is the best move for the 49ers moving forward and I have to side with Jim Harbaugh on this one. Alex Smith is 28 years-old and the 49ers only have him for a maximum of two more seasons. Kaepernick is a young star who has played very well in two starts. He picked apart a tough Bears defense and didn’t show any mercy on the Saints defense the following week.
The 49ers have to see what they have in Kaepernick and so far the results have been positive. If he starts to cool off, they can always go back to Smith. But Kaepernick has played too well to do that and that’s something the 49ers were hoping to see. He’s been named the starter again for Week 13 against the Rams and I don’t see them going back to Smith the rest of this year. That means it’s time to pick up Kaepernick in all fantasy leagues if you haven’t done so already.
Arizona Cardinals
Beanie Wells is back. That’s about all that is going on in Arizona for a team that has lost seven straight. Wells returned last week against the Rams and received 17 carries, rushing for 48 yards and scoring twice. The touchdowns were a plus and the Cardinals should continue to lean on the ground game with Ryan Lindley at quarterback.

As Thanksgiving has come and gone, I realize I have a lot to be thankful for. Wonderful long weekend away with family, my son realizing the toilet isn’t only for watching daddy throw up after numerous losses but that he can use it to, an early Christmas present as my Pop, myself, and my two oldest got to experience the Linc for the first time even if the game evoked the need for the earlier reference. As for things to be thankful for, fantasy football isn’t one of them. Fantasy football is madness. I’ve come to that conclusion. In paying homage to this realization, I am going to start off with my 10 Steps To Losing Your Mind (or at least your fantasy football matchups):
Step 1: Thursday Games – From a pure fan perspective, I LOVE Thursday football games. Triple the pleasure on Thanksgiving, fantastic! I got to watch most of all three games, probably more football than I’ve watched all year! From a fantasy perspective, Thursday games are difficult. You just don’t have all the information from the week. You might not have had much of a chance to look at teams. You are making decisions you just might not be ready to make. Triple the pain on Thanksgiving, aargh! I know, everyone has the same parameters to deal with. Still frustrating. IF ONLY I had started Jason Witten over Matt Forte. Now, I could say if all were standard Sunday games, I would have chosen Whitten over Forte. I’d like to say that. Who knows. I didn’t. In PPR leagues, I love Witten’s potential. Won me a couple of games in the Kick Ass League. But, over Forte?? Thought about it. Forte hasn’t really lit it up lately, but he has played two tough D’s in SF and Hou past couple of weeks. Cutler was back, and Min has been generous of late. Now, if Forte doesn’t get hurt, we are not having this conversation. I think I am also still getting used to the whole PPR component. First time going with PPR, so have to adjust. Witten hasn’t had under 10 pts in eight straight games. I picked him up for a reason, should have used him.
Step 2: Choosing a starting QB. If Big Ben were healthy, I am not having this conversation with myself. Yet another conversation with myself? I’m not crazy, just sad and pathetic. For years, I’ve always played QB roulette. Weekly frustrations on who to play. While Roethlisberger isn’t Brady, I felt comfortable going in to the year having him as a weekly starter. Of his 9 games this year, his lowest output is 15 pts, 2 20 pt games, and a 39 pt game. Can’t wait until he is FULLY healthy. So, back to roulette. IF ONLY I had started Matt Schaub over Carson Palmer. I missed out on Schaub’s big game last week. He’s been inconsistent over the year, 3 games below 10 pts and one 12 pt game, and I didn’t want to overreact to one week. My brother even suggested Schaub, so double aargh! I liked Palmer’s ceiling over Schaub’s, plus he’s actually been more consistent. Palmer decided to have his worst game of the year. Of the prior 10 games, only one of his were lower than 16 points, against his old team, no less. Sucks for him, sucks for me.
